Cleaning up the mess - Is it just the spirit of Mumbai?

Here is an example of the sense of ownership when the whole of India cribs about problems with cleanliness and slums.

Syed Nazima Amir Ahmed, 39, is a real case of leading by example. You can read the article here.

However, I do not agree with the whole mumbaikar concept. Of course there is a certain level of spirit associated with people in Mumbai because of their fast paced life and lack of time to mourn over the issues hounding the place.

It's not only Mumbai which needs people like Nazima. Look at Chennai, Hyderabad or any other place in India for that matter. We need people who can clean up the mess just for the fact that authorities are least interested in doing their job (what are they getting paid for??? Our tax is going waste !!!).

As for me, I have stopped littering. Not on my own, of course.
